Sutton Carpet Cleaners Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Sutton Carpet Cleaners provides domestic and commercial carpet and upholstery cleaning services in the UK. By making a booking, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms. They are designed to make the service clear, fair, and predictable for both parties, whether the work involves a one-off deep clean, an end-of-tenancy service, stain treatment, or a regular maintenance appointment.
Throughout this document, the terms “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to Sutton Carpet Cleaners, while “you” and “your” refer to the customer placing the booking. These terms apply to all carpet cleaning services and associated add-on services, unless a separate written agreement states otherwise. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
Our service is provided in accordance with UK consumer law, relevant industry practices, and applicable environmental requirements. We aim to carry out every carpet cleaning appointment with reasonable care and skill, using suitable products and equipment for the agreed task. However, natural variations in fabric, age, wear, prior treatment, and fibre condition can affect the final result.
1. Booking Process
Bookings for Sutton Carpet Cleaners services may be made by phone, email, online enquiry, or any other booking method we may offer from time to time. A booking is only confirmed once we have accepted the appointment and provided a date, time window, and any relevant service details. We may ask for information about the property, the type of carpet or upholstery, approximate room sizes, access arrangements, and any stains, odours, or special conditions that could affect the service.
When you place a booking, you confirm that the information you provide is true, complete, and accurate to the best of your knowledge. If the description of the work differs materially from the actual site conditions, we may revise the quotation, adjust the scope of the service, or decline to proceed if the service cannot be delivered safely or effectively. Any estimate given before inspection is based on the information available at the time and may be updated where necessary.
We may use subcontractors, technicians, or other qualified personnel to carry out the carpet cleaning service. Any person attending on our behalf is authorised to perform the agreed work under these terms. You agree to ensure that reasonable access is available at the agreed time, including entry to the property, the relevant rooms, and any water or power sources required for the service. If access is delayed, restricted, or unavailable, additional charges may apply.
2. Service Scope and Customer Responsibilities
Our cleaning services are intended to remove common dirt, dust, allergens, and certain stains, but we do not guarantee complete removal of every mark, odour, or blemish. Results may vary depending on fibre type, carpet age, previous cleaning history, and the nature of the contamination. Some stains, including those caused by bleach, dye transfer, pet urine, rust, adhesive, or pre-existing damage, may be permanent or may reappear after treatment.
Before work begins, you should remove fragile, valuable, or loose items from the areas to be cleaned unless we have expressly agreed in writing to move them. You should also notify us of any pre-existing damage, weak seams, loose fibres, underlay issues, hidden hazards, or other conditions that could be relevant to the service. We are not responsible for delays or damage caused by undisclosed site conditions.
Where furniture moving is included in the service, it will usually be limited to reasonably sized items and only where it can be done safely. Heavy, antique, fixed, or high-value items may be excluded. We reserve the right to refuse to move furniture if doing so could cause injury, property damage, or damage to the item itself. The customer remains responsible for safeguarding delicate flooring, ornaments, and personal belongings during the appointment.
3. Pricing and Payments
Prices for Sutton Carpet Cleaners services may be quoted as fixed prices, room-based rates, area-based rates, or hourly charges, depending on the nature of the work. Any quotation is valid for the period stated at the time it is issued. If no validity period is stated, the quotation may be withdrawn or revised if the scope, access, or conditions change before the booking is completed.
Unless otherwise agreed, payment is due immediately after the service is completed. We may require a deposit, advance payment, or card pre-authorisation for certain appointments, larger bookings, commercial jobs, or repeat-customer arrangements. Deposits are normally non-refundable where the appointment is cancelled at short notice or where we have reserved time and resources specifically for your booking, subject to any rights you may have under consumer law.
We accept payment by the methods notified at the time of booking. If payment is not received when due, we reserve the right to charge interest and recover reasonable costs of collection in accordance with applicable law. You are responsible for ensuring sufficient funds or credit are available. Any bank charges, failed payment fees, or chargeback costs caused by an invalid dispute may be passed on to you where permitted by law.
4. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Missed Appointments
You may cancel or reschedule an appointment by giving reasonable notice. If you cancel with sufficient notice, we will usually not charge a cancellation fee, although any deposit may be retained where we have incurred administrative or scheduling costs. If you cancel after we have already travelled to the property, prepared equipment, or allocated a technician, we may charge a reasonable cancellation fee or the full appointment price, depending on the circumstances.
If you are not present at the agreed time and we are unable to access the property, or if the work cannot proceed because of missing keys, locked rooms, unsafe conditions, or lack of required utilities, the appointment may be treated as a late cancellation or missed visit. In that event, you may still be liable for the agreed call-out or minimum charge. We will always act reasonably and take account of the circumstances before applying any charge.
We may need to reschedule due to illness, extreme weather, equipment failure, traffic disruption, emergency incidents, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Where this happens, we will aim to offer an alternative appointment as soon as reasonably practicable. We shall not be liable for losses arising from a delay or rescheduled visit caused by events outside our control, provided we have used reasonable efforts to minimise inconvenience.
5. Liability and Service Limitations
We will carry out all carpet cleaning services with reasonable care and skill. If we fail to do so, and you suffer loss or damage as a direct result, our liability will be limited to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.
We are not liable for pre-existing damage, hidden faults, structural defects, weak fibres, colour loss due to sunlight or wear, or adverse reactions caused by unsuitable prior treatments. Some carpets and fabrics may be sensitive to moisture, heat, agitation, or cleaning agents. While we take reasonable precautions, you accept that some risk of change in appearance, texture, or smell may remain, particularly with older or previously damaged items.
Where a claim relates to alleged damage, you must notify us as soon as reasonably possible and provide a fair opportunity to inspect the item and consider the issue. We may request photographs, purchase information, cleaning history, or other relevant evidence. If liability is established, our preferred remedy may be re-cleaning, repair, or reasonable compensation reflecting the direct loss proven. We will not be responsible for indirect, consequential, or purely economic losses such as loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of enjoyment, except where required by law.
6. Waste Management and Environmental Compliance
Sutton Carpet Cleaners operates in line with applicable waste regulations and environmental obligations in the UK. Wastewater, extracted soil, used pads, packaging, disposable materials, and any other by-products generated during the carpet cleaning service will be managed responsibly. Where we remove waste from the property, we will do so only in accordance with applicable legal requirements and standard environmental practices.
We may use cleaning chemicals, detergents, stain removers, and protective treatments that are suitable for the task and used in accordance with manufacturer instructions. You agree not to request or insist on the use of unsafe, prohibited, or environmentally inappropriate substances. If the property contains hazardous materials, bodily fluids, mould, or other contaminated waste, you must inform us in advance. Additional charges may apply, and in some cases we may refuse the work if specialist handling is required.
You are responsible for ensuring that any waste already present at the property, or any waste generated by prior occupants or ongoing building works, is disposed of properly unless we have agreed to remove it as part of our service. We may refuse to handle items that are classified as hazardous, controlled, or offensive waste, and we may notify the relevant authorities if we believe the law requires it. By using our carpet cleaning service, you agree to cooperate with reasonable waste segregation, disposal, and compliance measures.
7. Customer Conduct and Property Access
We expect all customers, occupants, and representatives at the property to treat our staff with courtesy and respect. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a service visit if our personnel are subjected to abuse, intimidation, unsafe behaviour, or unreasonable obstruction. In such cases, the booking may still be charged in full or in part, depending on how much of the service could be completed before the visit ended.
You must ensure that the property is reasonably safe for cleaning work. This includes adequate lighting, clear access paths, and a stable working environment. If pets, children, or other occupants may interfere with the service, you should take appropriate precautions. We are not responsible for incidents caused by failure to supervise occupants, secure valuables, or provide a safe environment for the appointment.
Where keys, alarm codes, or access instructions are provided to us, you confirm that you have the authority to do so. We will take reasonable care of any keys or access devices entrusted to us, but we are not responsible for pre-existing lock faults or security issues outside our control. Any access arrangement is subject to availability and operational practicality.
8. Complaints, Remedies, and General Provisions
If you have a concern about any aspect of the carpet cleaning service, you should notify us within a reasonable time after completion so that we can investigate the matter properly. We may ask for images, a description of the issue, and the chance to inspect the relevant area. Any complaint will be handled fairly and proportionately, with a view to resolving the matter efficiently.
These Terms and Conditions may be updated from time to time. The version in force at the time of your booking will normally apply to that booking, unless a change in law requires immediate implementation. No variation of these terms will be effective unless agreed by us in writing. If we choose not to enforce any right under these terms on one occasion, that does not mean we waive that right in future.
These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer rights that apply in your place of residence within the UK. If any provision is deemed invalid or unenforceable, it shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, while the remainder of the terms shall remain in full force.
